ADSS Double jacket Span 200 300 500 600 1500M Cable

Aerial Fiber Cable

ADSS Double jacket Span 200 300 500 600 1500M Cable

The Double Jacket ADSS cable is engineered for long-span aerial installations on high-voltage power lines. With spans up to 1500 meters, this all-dielectric self-supporting cable requires no separate messenger wire, reducing installation complexity and tower load. The double-jacket construction with aramid yarn strength members provides exceptional tensile strength and resistance to electric field effects on lines up to 220kV. Manufactured to IEEE P1222 and IEC 60794-1 standards, it delivers reliable fiber optic connectivity with a 30-year design life.

The Double Jacket ADSS Large Span 200M to 1500M is a specific type of All-Dielectric Self-Supporting (ADSS) fiber optic cable designed for long-distance aerial installations, covering spans ranging from 200 meters up to 1500 meters. ADSS cable is loose tube stranded. Fibers, 250μm , are positioned into a loose tube made of high modulus plastics. The tubes are filled with a water-resistant filling compound. The tubes (and fillers) are stranded around a FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastic) as a non-metallic central strength member into a compact and circular cable core. After the cable core is filled with filling compound. it is covered with thin PE (polyethylene) inner sheath. After stranded layer of aramid yarns are applied over the inner sheath as strength member, the cable is completed with PE or AT (anti-tracking) outer sheath.

Characteristics

  • Can be installed without shutting off the power
  • Excellent AT performance, maximum inductive at the operating point of AT sheath can reach 25kV
  • Light weight and small diameter, reducing the load caused by ice and wind and the load on towers and backprops
  • Large span lengths and the largest span is over 1000m
  • Good performance of tensile strength and temperature
  • Design life span of 30 years

Standard

  • IEEE P1222 technical standard
  • IEC 60794-1 standard
  • DLT 788-2016 standard

Application

ADSS double jacket cable is designed specifically for aerial installation on overhead power lines. The actual status of overhead power lines is taken into full consideration:

  • For overhead power lines under 110kV: PE outer sheath is applied
  • For power lines 110kV and above: AT (anti-tracking) outer sheath is applied

The dedicated design of aramid quantity and stranding process can satisfy the demand on various spans.

Key Features

  • Supports long spans from 200m to 1500m without messenger wire
  • Double jacket with aramid yarn for superior tensile strength
  • Anti-tracking (AT) sheath option for lines ≥110kV
  • Lightweight design reduces ice/wind load on towers
  • 30-year design life with excellent temperature performance
  • Compliant with IEEE P1222, IEC 60794-1, DLT 788-2016 standards

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the maximum span distance for ADSS double jacket cable?

The double jacket ADSS cable supports spans from 200 meters up to 1500 meters, making it suitable for long-distance aerial installations across wide valleys, rivers, and between distant transmission towers.

2. Does ADSS cable require shutting off power during installation?

No. One of the key advantages of ADSS cable is that it can be installed on live power lines without shutting off power, which significantly reduces operational disruption and installation costs.

3. When should I choose AT (anti-tracking) outer sheath vs PE sheath?

For power lines below 110kV, PE outer sheath is sufficient. For lines rated 110kV and above, AT (anti-tracking) outer sheath is required to withstand the higher electric field strength and prevent tracking degradation.

4. What standards does this ADSS cable comply with?

It complies with IEEE P1222 technical standard, IEC 60794-1 standard, and DLT 788-2016 standard, ensuring reliable performance in overhead power line applications.
