ADSS Single jacket Span 50 100 120 150M Cable

Aerial Fiber Cable

ADSS Single jacket Span 50 100 120 150M Cable

The Single Jacket ADSS cable is a cost-optimized all-dielectric self-supporting solution for shorter aerial spans from 50 to 200 meters. It delivers the same key benefits as double-jacket ADSS — installation on live power lines, no messenger wire needed, excellent AT performance — in a lighter, more economical package. Ideal for distribution-level power lines (10kV–35kV) and shorter pole-to-pole spans where the full load capacity of double-jacket designs is not required.

The Single Jacket ADSS Span 50M to 200M is a type of All-Dielectric Self-Supporting (ADSS) fiber optic cable designed for aerial installations, specifically for relatively shorter spans ranging from 50 meters to 200 meters. It is commonly used in various outdoor communication networks to provide high-speed data transmission and connectivity. ADSS cable adopts the twisted structure of loose sleeve layer, 250 μm optical fiber is inserted into the loose tube made of high modulus materials, and the loose tube is filled with waterproof compounds. The loose tube ( and filling rope ) is twisted around the non-metallic center reinforcing core ( FRP ) to synthesize a compact cable core. The gap of the cable core is filled with a water-blocking yarn and a water-blocking belt longitudinally wrapped by the cable core, and then the aramid fiber that plays a reinforcing role is twisted. Finally, the polyethylene ( PE ) outer sheath or the electric mark ( AT ) outer sheath is extruded.

Characteristics

  • Continuous electrical erection — can be installed without shutting off power
  • Superior resistance to electric tracking with AT sheath
  • Light weight, small cable diameter, reduced ice and wind impact and lower load on towers
  • Excellent tensile and temperature properties
  • Life expectancy up to 30 years

Standard

  • IEEE P1222 technical standard
  • IEC 60794-1 standard
  • DLT 788-2016 standard

Application

The single jacket ADSS cable is designed for shorter-span applications and is suitable for different grades of high voltage transmission lines:

  • 10 kV and 35 kV power lines: Polyethylene (PE) sheath is sufficient
  • 110 kV and 220 kV power lines: The optical cable hanging point must be determined by calculating the electric field strength distribution, and the AT (anti-tracking) outer sheath must be adopted

The amount of aramid fiber and the stranding process are carefully designed to meet the application requirements of different spans.

Key Features

  • Cost-effective single jacket design for spans 50–200m
  • Can be installed on live power lines without shutdown
  • AT sheath option for 110kV+ lines
  • Lightweight: minimal tower load from ice, wind, and cable weight
  • 30-year design life with excellent temperature performance
  • Compliant with IEEE P1222, IEC 60794-1, DLT 788-2016

Frequently Asked Questions

1. When should I choose single jacket vs double jacket ADSS?

Choose single jacket for shorter spans (50-200m) on distribution lines (10-35kV) where cost optimization is important. Choose double jacket for longer spans (200-1500m), higher voltage lines, or areas with severe weather conditions where the extra mechanical protection is warranted.

2. Can single jacket ADSS be used on 110kV transmission lines?

Yes, when equipped with AT (anti-tracking) outer sheath. The key factor is not the jacket count but the sheath material — AT sheath is required for lines ≥110kV regardless of single or double jacket construction.
